A Planning Meeting on Specialist Training Held in Syktyvkar

On June 25, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Komi hosted a working meeting on improving the efficiency of the planning mechanism for training specialists in professional educational institutions in the Komi Republic in accordance with regional needs of the economy and social sphere.

The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of the Republic of Komi, executive staff of Syktyvkar State University, Syktyvkar Forest Institute, Komi Republican Academy of Public Administration and Management andUkhta State Technical University. At the meeting, USTU was represented by Georgy Korshunov, Vice-Rector for Administration and External Affairs, Chief of Staff in the Rector’s Office.

The meeting discussed the mechanisms of forming admission quotas in professional educational organizations and educational institutions of higher education. Also the participants focused on the issue of improving the planning mechanism for training specialists for the Komi Republic with account of all levels of training.

Georgy Korshunov, USTU Vice-Rector for Administration and External Affairs, Chief of Staff in the Rector’s Office, who took part in the meeting, announced a proposal to establish a Coordinating Council jointly with the government of the Republic of Komi, municipalities, universities and enterprises -employers of Komi Republic with a view to more precisely follow up on the issues of joint decisions, quality statistics making to forecast the needs of specialists for the economy of the Republic of Komi and the further integration of the "State - High School - Business" system. Also, the offer was made on the need to strengthen the interaction between universities of the Republic of Komi on the issue of youth career guidance, in order to persuade the younger generation to stay in the Komi Republic and connect their future with our northern territory, which has been repeatedly said by USTU Rector Nikolay Tskhadaya. The proposals were unanimously approved by the participants.

In his statement, the USTU representative also thanked the Deputy Minister - Head of the Department of Labour of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Komi, Yury Vishnevsky for initiating the meeting and expressed his hope for continued cooperation.
