International students took part in winter competition

On 1st March, 2015 international students of the preparatory course by the International Department took part in winter competition, which were held not far from the health resort of USTU “Planeta Universitet”.

It was their first camping to the north forest. During winter competition international students had a good opportunity to communicate with professional sportsmen and try their hands at camping activities, but the most interesting was overcoming the obstacle by zip line.

Everyone coped with it. After that the international students tasted some dishes of chow wagon, get a warm by the fire, talked to professional sportsmen in sports tourism.

In the end of the day the students had a chance to skate at a rink of the health resort “ Planeta Universitet” for the first time in their lives. Everybody had a great fun and got lots of positive emotions in the open air in a winter forest.

Such a weekend in an informal friendly setting among Russians gave the international students a great opportunity to learn something new about Russian culture and customs on the one hand, and practice their Russian language on the other hand. For certain, it will give them some benefit in studying at the preparatory course in USTU.

We should mention that the international students from far abroad countries came to Russia for the first time  to study at the preparatory course by the International Department in February 2015. At the moment there is one group consisting of 6 student from Nepal, Nigeria, Ghana. At the beginning of March there will be the second group. The first 6 months the student are going to study Russian, mathematics, physics and informational technology. If they pass their entrance exams in the middle of summer successfully, they will be enrolled to chosen Bachelor degree programs of USTU.
