The participation in the Forum of Rectors of Russian and Chinese Universities

On 5th July, 2016, in the Lomonosov Moscow State University there was the Forum of Rectors of Russian and Chinese universities. Ukhta State Technical University was represented by the vice-rector for external affairs, Georgy Korshunov, who made a presentation on "Current and future directions of educational, scientific and innovative cooperation between Russia and China in the oil and gas sector and the Arctic" (including some promising projects between Russia and China, in particular, joint participation in the implementation of the gas pipeline construction to supply gas from Yakutia to the Primorsky Territory and the Asia-Pacific region called "Power of Siberia") in the section "Organizational-legal forms of Russian-Chinese scientific and educational cooperation".

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets drew attention to the fact that over the past few years the cooperation in the field of education achieved a high level. Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy emphasized that cooperation between the two countries in the field of education began in the 17th century, when the first school of the Russian language was found at the Imperial Chancellery in Beijing. Later the same school of the Chinese language appeared was opened in St. Petersburg. In 1860s there were 10 thousand Chinese students studied in Russia, 57 Chinese universities, which had schools of the Russian language. Today 25 thousand Chinese students study in Russia, about 17 thousand Russians study in China.

In the course of the Forum, the representatives of Russian and Chinese universities had a number of business meetings and negotiations, and some agreements on cooperation signed.
