Social Support of disabled people
Ukhta State Technical University annually admits people with disabilities not only as students but also as members of working staff.
Starting with the year 2011 the University started to implement a program "Barrier free environment for physically disabled people". Since then there have been developed special conditions for those people who are using wheelchairs or other facilities for moving around. One of the study buildings has been equipped with acess ramps and a separate parking lot for handicapped people.
To create an acessible environment for students with limited physical abilities the University founded a volunteers movement "Bogatyr". Its original goal was physical help to disabled students but since 2014 the volunteers have been also working as tutors.
