The Opening of Rassokhin Readings at USTU

On February 6, 2014, at Ukhta State Technical University, took place an opening ceremony of the sixth International Scientific-Practical Seminar, "Rassokhin Readings", dedicated to the memory of Professor Gennady Vasilevich Rassokhin, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Rector of Ukhta Industrial Institute from 1980 to 1997.

This year, more than one hundred papers were declared to the workshop. The seminar was attended by representatives of Russian and foreign research, design organizations and industrial enterprises, professors, graduate students, staff of oil and gas higher education institutions of Russia and abroad.

The presidium of the seminar included USTU Rector, Professor N.D. Tskhadaya; Chairman of USTU Board of Trustees, President of the Arctic and Far North Towns Union, I.L. Shpektor; President of Noncommercial partnership, «Self-regulated organization Association of gas and oil complex builders», B.V. Budzulyak ; the Head of the Development and Exploitation of Oil and Gas Fields Department, USTU, R.M. Ter –Sarkisov; President of the Academy of Technological Sciences, the Head of the "Development of Offshore Oil and Gas Fields" of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, B.A. Nikitin; Advisor to Director General of JSC "Gazprom Promgas", A.I. Gritsenko; Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Y.V. Lisin; and Senior Researcher of Komi Science Presidium, Academician M. P. Roshchevskiy.

The seminar was opened by USTU Rector, Nikolai Denisovich Tskhadaya. He noted that Rassokhin Readings is a multipurpose platform for the dialogue between representatives of governments, scientists, industrialists and public figures on the actual issues of the gas industry development; moreover, it is also a happy launch pad to start large-scale projects implemented at Ukhta University.

"In this particular place, the first project, "Ukhta is the birthplace of the first Russian oil", was announced. It was here that for the first time the Head of Komi Republic, Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Gaizer, made a proposal to establish Republican Center of University Science at our university and to create an Innovation Territorial Cluster of Komi Republic "Oil and Gas Technology "".

USTU Rector also stressed that the very foundation of most of the university achievements is the multifaceted cooperation with industry, academic, educational and community organizations.

Members of the Presidium and special guests of the seminar welcomed the participants. Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Yuri Vladimirovich Litsin, said that last year, over four thousand ecological events, which were attended by about a hundred thousand people, were held in the region within the framework of the Year of Environment in Komi Republic. He also noted that the next landmark event for Komi Republic will take place in April which is the sixteenth Congress of RK geologists. According to the Minister, the event will be attended by more than three hundred professionals of geological and mining sectors of Komi Republic and surrounding regions.

In his welcoming speech, the Head of Urban District Municipality "Ukhta", Roman Vladimirovich Melnik, thanked the guests for their participation in Rassokhin Readings and the representatives of enterprises for close relationship with the university. Also, he wished all participants of the scientific forum fruitful work, "vivid reports and heated discussion" and expressed the hope that time of the workshop will be "festival of science, new technologies and meet with like-minded people".

Deputy Minister of Education of Komi Republic, D.A. Belyaev, joined the words of the Head of Ukhta. Dmitry Anatolyevich, in turn, stressed that "Ukhta is a city of strategic projects in the field of education and, in particular, Ukhta State Technical University is a partner of the Ministry of Education".

General Director of LLC "Gazprom Dobycha Krasnodar", M.G. Geikhman, welcomed the participants of the Readings. According to Mikhail Grigorevich, the company has close relationship with USTU and "the majority of oilfield management employees are Ukhta University graduates".

Workshop participants were also greeted by other members of the presidium. The opening ceremony of the seminar was continued with plenary lectures.
