An informed choice of and preparation for one’s future career fresh out of school isn’t a question of great good luck, but rather a direct result of the cohesive work of every link in the educational chain. In this context, an important event is the Career Guidance Festival, organized in order to familiarize as much as possible the students of Ukhta’s secondary schools with the opportunities of Ukhta State Technical University.
On October 21, the second group of the preparatory department celebrated the beginning of the school year in a festive atmosphere at the international department. Among the future students are young people from Ghana, Liberia, Zimbabwe.
For many years Ukhta University has been actively cooperating with Transneft, in particular, its subsidiary Transneft North. Another remarkable result of this fruitful interaction was the presentation of new nominal audiences of the Department of Industrial Safety and Environmental Protection on October 18, 2019 at the Ukhta State Technical University.
October 4, near the house of life "Service" was the Grand opening of the monument to the first Russian oilman Fyodor Pryadunov. This event is doubly significant for USTU staff and for all Ukhta residents, and in connection with the work on the social and communicative project "Ukhta – the birthplace of the first Russian oil", which has been implemented by the University for nine years. The semantic focus of the project is the personality of Theodore Fyodor Pryadunov.
On the 19th of September the international Department of USTU officially began the study year for preparatory course. Just like every year students from diverse countries applied to study at USTU including students from Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Senegal and South Sudan.
In mid-September in Ukhta State Technical University welcomed 2 young Fulbright lecturers from the United States: Anna Louise Campbell and Michelle Christine Schulte. The American women came on a leading international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and aimed at strengthening mutual understanding between the United States and Russia.
This year’s Knowledge Day, contrary to tradition, took place on September 2. A new page in life has begun for first-year students of Ukhta State Technical University. Teachers, guests of the holiday and freshmen lined up in a hall decorated with colorful balloons and bright signs. After the banners of the Russian Federation, the Komi Republic and the Ukhta State Technical University were introduced and the hymns were played, the floor was given to the President of the Ukhta State Technical University, Professor Nikolay Tskhadai:
On August 8, 2019, in the office of LUKOIL - Engineering LLC in Ukhta, a meeting was held under the leadership of the President of the Academy of Mining Sciences, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Malyshev. USTU vice-rector for scientific work Ivan Kurta also took part in the working meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the prospects for the development of the Yarega super-viscous oil field.
