The Day of Knowledge
Ukhta State Technical University celebrated “Day of Knowledge” on the 1st of September 2018 as it’s always celebrated annually. In the morning, following the tradition of USTU, the Rector, Lecturers and staff of USTU honored the memory of the first Rector of Ukhta industrial Institute (which is now known as USTU) G. E. Panov and Hero of Russia A. I. Alekseev, laying flowers at the memorial plaques.
At 10:00 a.m. solemn line was devoted to knowledge Day and world. This year’s freshmen of all institutes and colleges gathered for the first time in the main hall of the university’s sports complex "Burevestnik".
The ceremony was attended by students, faculty members, distinguished guests, heads and representatives of USTU strategic partners, leading oil and gas companies: Chapter ICDO "Ukhta" - Chairperson of the Council MOGO "Ukhta", Konenkov, the head of the administration "Ukhta" M. N. Osmanov, General Director of "Gazprom transgaz Ukhta" A. V. Gaivoronsky, Director General of "Transneft-North" R. R. Ismagilov, Deputy General Director for personnel and administrative matters of "LUKOIL-Ukhta oil refinery" S. N. Donin, Director of business development in Kazakhstan Gazprombank K. A. Kovalev, Deputy Director for General Affairs of the territorial production enterprise "LUKOIL-Ukhta oil and gas", "LUKOIL-Komi" S. N. Chmyrev, Deputy Director for Geology and development Necesoto production enterprise "Yareganeft", "LUKOIL-Komi" K. N. Tsgoev, Director of the branch of "Gazprom VNIIGAZ" in Ukhta R. Yu. Yunusov.
The rector of USTU, Professor Nikolay Denisovich Tskhadaya made a welcoming speech. He congratulated the first-year students on the holiday, stressing that "only a continuous movement can provide strong stability in any business" and advised students to actively participate and Express themselves in all activities held at the University. "I want to wish you, friends, confidence and fearlessness while stepping into the student life and strive to join the creative University spirit!" he instructed students. Ukhta State University annually celebrates the day of knowledge. So there’s always a flag raising ceremony, the raised flags were of the Russian Federation, Republic of Komi, Ukhta State Technical University and the sports society "Burevestnik" and flags of USTU strategic partners – the company "Gazprom", "LUKOIL", "Transneft", "Rosneft" – were provided by the cadets of the mining and petroleum College USTU. Another tradition was the sharing of a symbolic key of knowledge. The novelty was the first bell of the new school year-ringing trill, symbolized by small bells in the hands of newly students.
In conclusion, the solemn line of students was graced by the youngest representatives of the University complex of USTU-pupils of the elementary school "Rostock-USTU". After the ceremony, the traditional photography session was held according to specific specialties and faculties. The freshmen were led to their departments for a familiarity tour by their respective curators.
