Representatives of U.S. Embassy visited USTU
On 16th March, 2017 the delegation of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow visited USTU. It consisted of three people: Chief Specialist of the Diplomatic Mission on Energy Issues - Justin Berg, Second secretary of the Political Section - Neil Gipson and Senior Specialist of the Economical Section - Vladimir Medoev.
The main aim of their visit was, first of all, acquaintance with the university complex and USTU experience in cooperation with product companies, as well as discussion in different areas of partnership.
The program included visiting of the following university facilities: personalized auditoriums and laboratories of Gazprom, Lukoil and Transneft located in the buildings "A", "K", "L", TV studio, the business incubator and the museum of USTU. A separate part of the program was the discussion of issues related to the training of workers and a visit to the USTU Mining and Oil College, a center for collective use of scientific equipment and a unique training ground.
U.S. representatives also participated in the opening ceremony of the 7th Regional Youth Innovation Convention "Youth is the Future of the Komi Republic" and saw the exhibition at which showpieces of scientific and technical creativity were presented by both young and experienced professionals.
The working visit to Ukhta University ended with a business meeting with the rector of the university, Professor Nikolay Tskhadaya and Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Komi Republic - Minister of Industry, Natural Resources, Energy and Transport of the region Nikolay Gerasimov. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views and proposals on the prospects for interaction in the educational, scientific, energy spheres, as well as on sports diplomacy.
