At the Forefront of Scientific Thought

According to organizers, the event held from 14 to 16 October 2014 in Moscow was probably the most large-scale in the five-year history of its holding: it was attended by more than 3,500 technical specialists and scientists; 114 applications were submitted from 28 universities in Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

The conference was held concurrently with the exhibition, where the world's leading oil and gas companies, such as JSC Gazprom Neft, JSC Tatneft, Schlumberger and many others presented their latest technological solutions.

USTU representatives, A.I. Hasanov, a student of group NGD-3-11, and S.M. Durkin, assistant of the Department of the development and operation of oil and gas deposits and the underground hydromechanics, have successfully presented their scientific reports. Report of S.M. Durkin "Creating fracture well model to describe the borehole effects" won first place in the Postgraduates Works category and was nominated for the competition within SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition-2015 (ATCE) to be held in the United States.

The conference programme also featured talks between USTU and representatives of Roxar, a global leader in the field of three-dimensional geological modeling. The sides discussed new prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation, which began in 2005.
