Internship of a Doctor of Sciences from the United States at USTU

Within the period of April 22 to May 20, 2018, Ukhta State Technical University was visited by Dr. Scott De Francesco an associate Professor of communications at the Department of communications at the University of Quinnipiac, Connecticut (USA).

Scott has worked in major educational institutions in Europe, Australia and the USA and does freelance work for companies in China. The main profile of his activity is teaching in the field of advertising, PR and strategic communications.


Internship at the US international offices

In mid-April 2018, the head of the international Department of USTU Anton Grigoriev returned from a three-month internship within the framework of the Fulbright grant program for employees of international departments (Russia International Education Administrators Program, RIEA), which was held at universities of the United States of America since mid-January 2018. The RIEA program offers an intensive internship in the USA, which consists of several stages.


The Counsellor of the Republic of Cameroon visited USTU

In the period from 26th to 28th April 2018, USTU has been visited by Kuoma Jean Cottin Gellin, the Counsellor of the Republic of Cameroon. The main purpose of the visit was primarily to acquaintance the visitor with the university complex and discuss areas of collaboration in education and academic sectors.


Another Fulbright experience

Ukhta State Technical University yet again opens its doors to the world, and the guest this time around is Dr. Scott de Francesco, he’s an American professor from New York who specializes in strategic communications, public relations and advertising.


Poetry Night "Spring. Love. Poetry"

On 20th April, 2018, the traditional Poetry Night was held in the hall of the history museum of USTU, where students of the preparatory course read poems of the great Russian poets in Russian. Students of Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, Sudan, Cote d'Ivoire, Colombia read the classics of the Russian literature this year under the guidance of their teacher of phonetics Angela Vyacheslavovna Rochova.


The Russian language knowledge

Last Saturday, April 14, international educational action "Total dictation" was held across the country and abroad. The year 2018 was an anniversary year - for fifteen years throughout the country people of different ages and levels of education have been testing their knowledge in the Russian language. As for Ukhta, the dictation was held here for the fifth time.


An exchange student from USTU in Norway

A USTU student, who is a first year student of the master program, Vladimir Zakusov, got an opportunity to take part in the academic mobility program Erasmus+ Global Mobility. With the support of the international department of USTU in autumn 2017, Vladimir sent an application for participation, and at the moment he is in the city of Bodo (Norway), where he studies at the Nord University.


No Fascism and Nationalism

On 10th February, 2018, at the secondary school №10 the event called "No Fascism and Nationalism" was held, in which students of 10th and 11th grades took part, and also international students of Ukhta State Technical University. This traditional event has been held at school for the sixth time dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of a Young Hero-Anti-Fascist.


SPE lecturer from the USA at USTU

The Distinguished lecturer Patrick Brand (USA) visited Ukhta State Technical University from 24th to 25th January, 2018. Patrick Brand is a founding partner of Blade Energy Partners and a former drilling technology adviser at Mobil. In his 36 years of experience in oil and gas upstream, Brand has made numerous innovative and fundamental contributions to Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), including the development of dynamic influx control and dynamic pore-pressure and fracture-pressure determination.


The USTU swimming pool is now open!

On 26th December, 2017 one of the most significant events - opening of the USTU swimming pool - was held. The construction, which lasted for two years, came to an end. On the opening day, the first competitions among students were organized.
