Through USTU departments

For two weeks, from 7th February to 16th February, several excursions were held for international students of the preparatory course on which they are studying the Russian language to the end of July. Despite the fact that there is not much time till the entrance exams start, not all international students have made up their mind and still have doubts on what direction to continue their education at USTU.

The first AIS meeting at USTU

Upon the opening of the Association of International Students (AIS), Ukhta branch, a meeting was held on February 3, 2016 at the big physics auditorium to inform the international students about the association, their aims and the benefits international students gain from being a part of this association.

USTU Fulbrighter at Moscow Seminar

Last week, 25-27 January 2017, the Fulbright Program held its annual Mid-Year Enrichment Seminar in Moscow for participants program in Russia. All current Fulbright Scholars, including English teaching assistants, research grantees, and visiting scholars, were in attendance. For the majority of participants the end of January marks the midway point in theirs grants, and thus the seminar is an opportunity for Fulbrighters to share their experiences and brainstorm ways to improve their work in the common months.

Once in Ust-Kulom

Every year the admission office of USTU receives invitations to attend the event "Fair of professions" from every corner of the Komi Republic and other regions of Russia. The aim of the event is to inform pupils of grades 9-11 about study opportunities. Representatives of the international department, coordinator to work on  recruitment of international students Shevchenko L. V. and intern, the international student Osei-Bonsu E., went to a historical place Ust-Kulom to tell pupils of grades 9-11 about all the benefits of studying at Ukhta University.

The meeting with international students of the preparatory course

Last Friday, on 13th January 2017, at the international department of USTU a meeting with international students of the preparatory course, which enlighted issues of migration registration of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation, as well as further education at the university, was held. Meetings of this kind are regularly held for each new set of international students of the preparatory department. Such meetings are primarily aimed at informing foreign citizens of the rules of migration registration and visa extension.

The student exchange in Norwegian style

Over the past few years Ukhta University has been actively participating in the academic exchange program "Barents Plus". "Barents Plus" is a program to provide scholarships for universities in the framework of cooperation of the Norwegian and Russian part of the Barents Region. This cooperation is directed not only on the development of qualifications in higher education in the Barents region, but on a deeper study of the culture of the neighboring countries, as well as to strengthen the knowledge of their own cultural features of the participating countries.

USTU representatives participated in the International seminar "Knowledge for the future" at Nord University

On 10th January, 2017, an international seminar “Knowledge for the Future” and the opening of the spring semester at the Business School was held at the High North center of Nord University (Bodø, Norway). The USTU Vice-Rector for External Affairs, Georgy Korshunov and director of the Institute of Economics, Management and Information Technology, Mikhail Petrov participated in the seminar and discussions.
