On June 19 a student of the Department of Slavic Languages ​​and Literatures of Princeton University (USA), Jake Robertson arrived at Ukhta State Technical University to collect materials for his thesis.

The American student has already visited Russia and undertook language internship in Moscow and St. Petersburg. A year later, Robertson will defend his thesis "Theatre of the Gulag." The student chose this topic during his first year at the Princeton University. The researcher’s interest in history of camp theater brought him to the Komi Republic.

A solemn graduation ceremony at Ukhta State Technical University took place on June 21. For the second consecutive year the ceremony was held in the USTU Burevestnik sports complex.

On June 16 Syktyvkar hosted a meeting of the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Dmitry Livanov with the university rectors of the Komi Republic. The meeting discussed issues of evaluating the effectiveness of higher education institutions.

On Sunday, May 11 Ukhta House of Culture hosted annual recital of USTU dance group «United Bit», entitled «World of Hip Hop Dance».
