W18: Kadirova scores for Russia with three seconds left

BUFFALO – Finland looked to have the upset win in the bag after putting up a 3-0 lead against Russia at the 2015 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship quarter-final game. But the Russians had other ideas, as the team engineered a third period comeback that was finished off by a breakaway score from Fanuza Kadirova with just three second left in regulation, pushing the Russians into a semi-final rematch with Canada.

USTU Volunteers improve their skills

On December 15-19, the training workshop for active USTU students took place in Ukhta State Technical University, which was attended by over fifty representatives of student units.

The main purpose of the school is developing of students’ self-administration at the University, as well as improving students' skills.

USTU Takes Part in the INZHPROMFEST- MEPhI Festival

On December 16-17, 2014 Moscow hosted the Open Festival of engineering and industrial design among student teams from Russian universities INZHPROMFEST- MEPhI. The organizer of the festival is the Youth Information Agency.

On November 13 the opening and plenary session of the Scientific and Technical Conference "Problems of development and exploitation of heavy oil and bitumen" took place at Ukhta State Technical University. The conference will last two days; all in all, more than 60 reports are to be presented in the sections.

Specialist from Brazil Gives a Lecture at USTU under SPE Distinguished Lecturer Program

On November 10 Gino Di Lullo, a SPE Honored lecturer, technical expert of the company Superior Energy gave a lecture on "Acid Stimulation Challenges and Solutions in Deeper Limestone Reservoirs."

Honory Award by MFA of Russia was handed to Mr. Frode Mellemvik

In th beginning of October during 70th anniversary celebration of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO university) foundation a professor and presently director at the High North Center for Business and Governance in Bodoe (University of Nordland), Frode Mellemvik, was handed an Honory Award – a breastplate of MFA of Russia “For contribution to the international cooperation”. This is the highest decoration awarded by MFA of Russia to a foreigner. This means a high appreciation of work on cooperation development between Norway and Russia.

At the Forefront of Scientific Thought

According to organizers, the event held from 14 to 16 October 2014 in Moscow was probably the most large-scale in the five-year history of its holding: it was attended by more than 3,500 technical specialists and scientists; 114 applications were submitted from 28 universities in Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

The conference was held concurrently with the exhibition, where the world's leading oil and gas companies, such as JSC Gazprom Neft, JSC Tatneft, Schlumberger and many others presented their latest technological solutions.

Joint Educational Programme of USTU and NIS Novi Sad Launched in Serbia

On September 29, the grand opening of the "Industrial Oil and Gas Engineer" educational programme developed jointly by USTU and JSC NIS Novi Sad took place at the "Mihajlo Pupin" Technical Faculty in Zrenjanin, Serbia. The solemn ceremony was attended by Natalia Demchenko, director of USTU Institute of Geology, Oil and Gas Production and Pipeline Transport.
