"Young Republic": student forum in Syktyvkar

On 17th February, the Republican Student Forum “Young Republic” was held in Syktyvkar.  The forum was devoted to the 95th anniversary of the Komi Republic and the day of student unions.

School of active student group

The elective course for active students of USTU was organized by student union at Ukhta State Technical University in the middle of December, 2015. This course gives a wide range of opportunities for students to develop many skills and abilities.

Christmas morning at the production-and-training center "Gazprom transgaz Ukhta"

People say that Christmas holidays are filled with special feeling of expecting something good and magical. It may be said that Christmas morning for our international students started in a magical way as well – they went to have an excursion at the production-and-training center  "Gazprom transgaz Ukhta", where training, retraining and advanced training in different areas of gas transportation is carried out.

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

On 25th December the Christmas musical project arranged by International Department was presented in the museum hall of USTU.

The US teachers Katie Bascom and Victoria Pardini celebrated Christmas in Russia for the first time. They made their minds to share magical spirit of the most favourite holiday in the USA with everyone. That was how the idea of this international project appeared.

Unity Day “We are Russians. Power in Unity”

On 4th November, a public holiday, a few students of USTU didn’t stay at home, but headed for the Republican Ethno forum “We are Russians. Power in Unity”, which was held in the ethnocultural park inside the village called Yb in the outskirts of Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic.

Coordination meeting with international students

On Monday, 2nd November, the meeting with international students from far-abroad countries was held in the International Department of USTU. There were students from Nigeria, Angola, Nepal, Congo, Sudan, Cameroon and other countries at the meeting.

The meeting was devoted to the main rules of stay of foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation, including migration issues, inner University rules, opportunities to have a part-time job, household issues coming on during study at the University and living in the dormitory.

Gripping the skills of Russian - group № 3

The third and final group of the preparatory course started their lessons on 3rd November, 2015. The group consist of five (5) students from Ghana, Nigeria and India. Four more students from Pakistan, Nigeria and India will join the group within next two weeks.

Quest game for international students

3rd October 2015 presented itself with glamorous moment for our international students to familiarize themselves with the different parts of our beloved University. A game called "Quest" was organised to achieve this objective and also make this activity fun and enjoyable. 
Also, students were able to socialize, identify individual skill set and learned how to work together to achieve a common goal which is very fundamental to their university education.

The second group of the preparatory course started to learn Russian

At the beginning of October the second group of international students started the preparatory course by International department of USTU. First of all, students from far-abroad countries will focus on learning the Russian language. The new group consists of 9 people who came to the town of Ukhta from Gambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Nepal and Pakistan.

Re-start of English club

Last Thursday the first meeting of English Club was held at International Department. It was organized by staff of International Department together with two English teachers from the USA Kathryne Bascom and Victoria Pardini. Over 50 students and University staff, who wanted to practice spoken English, joined the meeting.
